Our Social Responsibility

Since spring more than 100,000 employee hours have been put in to creating a safer campus for everyone in the Cal Poly community. Now, it is up to all of us to do what is needed for a healthy and successful fall quarter. Call it the new normal, doing your part, or simply how it is now, it really comes down to social responsibility and everyone taking the steps to keep the community safer.

One of the biggest steps to help is continuing to telework if you can effectively do so. This will help the campus de-densify. If you are returning to campus, following the new protocols and guidance found in the Fall Work Plan.

These new etiquettes not only include required face coverings in public spaces but also appropriate hand hygiene and proper cough/sneeze decorum. These go alongside the physical distancing and health monitoring that we have all grown accustomed to.

The face covering requirement follows the California Department of Public Health mandate that people must wear face coverings when outside their homes in specific circumstances. There are also exceptions to the rules.

If you work in an open office environment, be sure to maintain at least 6 feet distance from co-workers. If possible have at least one workspace separating you from another co-worker. You should wear a face mask or face covering at all times while in a shared work space/room.

These are significant steps that will make a huge difference.

The Fall Work Plan - Return to Work Protocols for COVID-19 is part of this overall direction, offering guidance, assistance and support that can help keep the community safe. It is highly suggested that all Cal Poly community members familiarize themselves with this plan.
