Riding Safe With Rideshare

Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are convenient options for traveling without a car and carpooling with friends. As always, it’s important to travel safely and use common sense when using these transportation services. Here are some safety tips to ensure you get the most out of your next rideshare experience!

Plan Ahead!

Before you request a ride, make sure to figure out where you’re going and who you’re traveling with (always a good idea to have a travel buddy!) so you can use the app most effectively. Also, make sure to utilize the app’s rating feature, so you can choose a driver that other people have recommended.

Meeting Your Ride

Hang-out inside wherever you are until your ride indicates they have arrived. Then, make sure you’re able to identify the car you’re getting in. Good practices include taking a screenshot of the ride confirmation info in case you need it later, asking the driver who they’re expecting, and checking that the license place and driver all match up to the app!

On The Road

Buckle up! Take a backseat spot so you can exit on either side of the car, and follow along with your own GPS to make sure you’re headed the right direction. You can also share trip details with a friend or parent so they can know when to expect you.

Use Common Sense

Avoid giving out any unnecessary info like your phone number and trust your instincts. Call 911 if you ever feel you’re in an emergency situation.

Keep these tips in mind next time you’re scheduling a ride and stay safe Mustangs!
