Inside Cal Poly Logo

Greetings from the Bella Montaña Neighborhood

Located just across from the Highland Drive entrance and just a couple minutes’ walk away from the Cal Poly campus core, sits the beautiful Bella Montaña neighborhood. These residences are a proud project of the Cal Poly Corporation that is offered exclusively to university faculty and staff.

The goal of this neighborhood is to provide a place for Cal Poly faculty and staff to own a home in San Luis Obispo. Here they can easily commute to campus and also explore some local favorites such as Morro Bay, Avila Beach, and downtown SLO. Not to mention this area has a great view of the popular Bishop Peak. These homes have been strategically priced well below comparable other San Luis Obispo homes so that they affordable for staff, faculty and their families.

The Bella Montaña Community offers nearly 70 homes with 10 flexible floor plans, ranging from 2 bedroom / 1 bath homes to 3 bedroom / 3 bath homes. These floor plans are maintained within three distinct categories called La Cumbre, La Mesa, and La Valle with square footage that ranges from 1,029 to 1,614. When you step inside a Bella Montaña home you will find courtyards, patios or decks, contemporary kitchens, elegant living areas, attractive baths, and personal garages.

Sounds too good to be true? Here’s how it works; these homes are built on leased land, which enables them to be sold at below market prices and helps ensure that homes remain owned by persons affiliated with Cal Poly. Unlike traditional homeownership programs, homeowners at Bella Montaña enter a sublease of the land with Cal Poly Corporation.

Without staff and faculty members Cal Poly would not be the university that it is today. The Corporation is happy to dedicate these beautiful homes to those who give so much to the campus community.
