Scout Coffee Comes to Campus

Calling all coffee connoisseurs and pastry lovers! If you live in San Luis Obispo county you are likely familiar with the beloved Scout Coffee Co. Whether this is your favorite study spot or a place you frequently pass by, we have some good news for you! Drum roll please……. Scout Coffee Co. is coming to campus in Fall 2021!

Scout Coffee Co. has been a SLO favorite since their first shop opened on Garden Street in 2014. This local coffee hub has been known for its unique atmosphere and comfortable study spot for Cal Poly students and SLO residents. In 2016 this award-winning coffee shop opened the second Scout Coffee location on Foothill Boulevard.

The Cal Poly community is more than excited to have its very own campus location. Scout Coffee Co and the Cal Poly Corporation will work together to bring this new gathering spot to life for students, staff and faculty. You can find this space over in the yakʔitʸutʸu neighborhood, next to the Cal Poly Welcome Center.

The Cal Poly Scout location will feature a similar menu with scratch-made pastries, and craft-roasted coffee.

Speaking of their coffee, Scout owners Jon and Sara Peterson opened HoneyCo Coffee Roasters in 2015 and have since been featured in The New York Times, Sunset Magazine, The Guardian, The Venue Report, AAA Westways Magazine, Sweet Paul, and more. Alton Brown of the Food Network called the coffee “scientifically perfect.”

A few other menu items will include morning buns, muffins, scones, various croissant flavors, multiple short bread options, chia pudding, Liege waffles, and buttermilk biscuits, just to name a few.

For students the space will serve as a spot to gather with friends and study partners to relax in the afternoon, connect in the evening or grab a quick coffee and pastry in the morning on the way to class. It will also serve as a nice walk and coffee break for faculty and staff.
