Cal Poly was recently recognized with the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award from the National Procurement Institute. Cal Poly was one of only 13 universities to earn the distinction.
“Recognition for the dedication and innovation of our team and knowing that we are at the forefront of our field is always great,” said Dru Zachmeyer, assistant vice president of Strategic Business Services. “Really this is a humbling confirmation that we have an amazing procurement team that I am lucky enough to come to work with every day.”
Awarded annually to organizations that show skillfulness and expertise in their procurement operations, the national award is given to organizations and jurisdictions of all sizes including counties, cities, school districts, states, special districts and universities, both public and private.
Cal Poly’s Strategic Business Services (SBS) earned this award by achieving points for their leading procurement practices. The award was given based on the overall SBS program, that includes the use of e-commerce, managing an effective procurement card program, earning professional certifications, the sustainable procurement policy, and the continual pursuit of improvement through customer focus surveys.
Zachmeyer received the award on Cal Poly’s behalf.
The AEP award program is highly recognized and acknowledged by other professional organizations like the Institute for Public Procurement and the California Association of Public Procurement Officials.
Organizations that apply to be considered for this award are judged on various categories. These categories include process efficiency, technology implementation, professional certification and innovation.
